New York City Pilots Program To Reduce Tick Population And Combat Lyme Disease

One of the five boroughs of New York City has a problem with Lyme disease.  Many Staten Islanders have recently been diagnosed with the disease.  Since Lyme disease is transmitted by ticks, NYC is piloting a program whereby the ticks in their first phase will be killed on the most common carriers of these insects: white-footed mice and chipmunks. This program has just begun in 2019, and will be assessed in 2021.
